01 Our Philosophy

JOT is built on the fundamental belief that your personal thoughts are sacred. Traditional free productivity tools monetize user data through targeted advertising, data sharing, or training public models on user notes. JOT charges a straightforward subscription (£9/month or lifetime founding membership) so we never need to turn your data into a business asset.

There is no social feed, no public sharing mechanism, no audience, and no recommendation algorithm.

02 What We Collect

We only collect information strictly required to operate the service and provide voice transcription and retrieval:

• Account Information: Your email address and basic profile identifier provided during authentication (such as Google Sign-In) to manage your subscription and secure your account.
• Captured JOTs: The text transcripts of your captured thoughts (including clean transcript, raw transcript, AI-generated title, capture timestamp, sequential JOT number, and mode tags).
• Query History: Questions you ask when searching or querying your memory, enabling JOT to answer from your thinking.
• Technical & Diagnostic Data: Anonymized app crash logs, device OS versions, and performance indicators solely to diagnose bugs and maintain service reliability.

03 Audio & Voice Processing

When you drop a JOT, your microphone captures your speech in real time. The audio is sent securely over encrypted channels directly to our speech recognition engine (Whisper API) to generate your transcript.

04 How We Use Your Information

Your information is used strictly to deliver the product functionality you paid for:

• Generating clean and raw transcripts of your thoughts in any of 99+ supported languages.
• Assigning sequential, permanent numbers (e.g. JOT #24) and titles to your thoughts.
• Powering conversational retrieval so you can ask questions and receive answers synthesized directly from your own memory.
• Managing subscription billing and authentication status.

We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information or your JOTs to third-party advertisers or data brokers.

05 Artificial Intelligence & Model Training

We believe private notes should remain private:

• No Public Model Training: Your JOTs and transcripts are never used to train, retrain, or improve public foundation AI models.
• Strict Sub-processor Terms: Third-party AI model providers (such as Google Gemini and OpenAI Whisper) process data solely as enterprise processors under zero-retention and data privacy addendums.

06 Data Storage, Encryption & Security

Security is designed into every layer of JOT:

• In Transit: All communications between your device and our servers are encrypted using modern Transport Layer Security (TLS 1.3 / HTTPS).
• At Rest: All stored transcripts, metadata, and authentication records are encrypted at rest using industry-standard AES-256 encryption.
• Access Control: Strict least-privilege administrative controls ensure no unauthorized individuals have access to production databases.

07 Your Control & Data Rights

You own your thoughts and retain total control over your data at all times:

• Clear All JOTs: You can wipe your entire captured memory directly inside the Settings screen at any time with one action.
• Delete Account: You can permanently delete your account and all associated transcripts directly from the app. Deletion is irreversible and completely purges your records.
• Data Portability & Export: You have the right to request a complete export of all your JOTs and transcript history in open format.
• GDPR & CCPA Rights: If you are located in the UK, European Economic Area (EEA), California, or other jurisdictions with data protection regulations, you retain all rights to access, rectification, portability, restriction, and erasure of your personal data.
