01 Who we are

JOT is a voice-first memory app, provided by JOT ("we", "us"). You can reach us at hello@tryjot.xyz.

02 Your account

• You sign in with a Google account. You are responsible for keeping that account secure.
• You must be at least 18, or have the permission of a parent or guardian.
• One account is for one person. JOT is single-player; accounts cannot be shared.

03 What JOT does

You speak a thought. JOT transcribes it, gives it a title, cleans up speech artifacts and saves it to your account with a permanent number. You can search your JOTs and ask questions about them.

Transcripts, titles and answers are produced automatically by speech recognition and language models. They can be wrong. The raw transcript is always kept alongside the clean one, and you should check anything important before relying on it. Nothing JOT produces is medical, legal, financial or other professional advice.

JOT does not send reminders or notifications about your JOTs. Do not rely on it for anything time-critical or for emergencies.

04 Your JOTs are yours

You own everything you say into JOT. You give us permission to store, process and display your JOTs only so that we can run JOT for you. That includes sending audio and text to the providers we use for transcription, titles, search and answers, as described in the Privacy Policy.

We do not sell your JOTs, show you ads, or share your JOTs with anyone else.

05 Using JOT fairly

You agree not to:

• use JOT for anything unlawful, or to store content you have no right to hold;
• record other people where the law requires their consent and you do not have it;
• access JOT by automated means, or try to get around its limits or security;
• copy, reverse engineer or resell JOT, except where the law allows it.

To keep JOT running for everyone, each account has daily limits on transcriptions, titles and questions. They are set well above normal use and reset every day.

06 Membership and payment

JOT is a paid product. There are no ads and no free tier.

• Founding membership: available to the first 100 members. A one-time payment gives lifetime access to JOT for as long as we operate it.
• Subscription: billed monthly until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in Google Play, and access continues until the end of the period you paid for.
• Payments are handled by Google Play, and Google Play's terms apply to them. The price is always shown before you pay.
• Refunds follow Google Play's refund policy. Nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

07 Changes to JOT and to these terms

JOT is new and will change. We may add, change or remove features. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app or by email before the change takes effect. If you keep using JOT afterwards, the new terms apply.

08 Ending your use of JOT

You can stop using JOT and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. Where we can, we will tell you first and explain why.

09 Liability

We work to keep JOT available and your JOTs safe, but we cannot promise it will never be interrupted or never fail. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose.

We are not liable for losses that were not foreseeable, or for business losses. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

10 Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
